May 5th and 6th, Emmanuel will be joining with the other congregations of Bay Association to host the following missionaries for the all-day celebration on Saturday, May 5th. The following day, our church will host two different missionaries in our worship hours, one each inthe morning and evening. DON’T MISS these opportunities:

Sunrise Baptist Church, 2138 N. Jefferson

There will be a catered meal at no charge, but reservations are required by April 22nd. Call Sunrise Baptist church. Childcare plus special activities for children will be available.

they will come to share testimonies and song. A love offering will be taken in the morning worship. A light luncheon will follow in fellowship hall. Everyone is asked to bring a salad and a plate of sandwiches. Thank You!

CHANGE FOR CHANGE IN GUAM

Our church is partnering with Ray & Vhee Bosi as they prepare and go to Guam. They have asked us to help in the next year with a $25.00 dollar a month pledge, which we have graciously accepted.

So this is how it works. The first Sunday of every month we will be collecting change (quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies.) Everyone can help, from big to small. You can also add a dollar bill or two if you so desire. All money that is collected will go to the Rev. & Mrs. Bosi. God will be Glorified and EBC will give a BIG Hallelujah.

Come be a part of helping in a small way for International Missions.

We Need Your Bling!

In an effort to help fight human trafficking, the Baptist Women of Michigan are sponsoring the “More Beautiful than Diamonds Boutique” Proceeds from the boutique sales will go to help with projects that work to rescue and restore victims of human trafficking. Your cast-off, gently used jewelry and accessories are needed in whatever condition you bring it. It will either be put in the boutique or re-purposed into another piece. Purses, scarves, hair accessories, belts, and shoes that are clean and in very good condition are needed. Gently used T-shirts are also needed and will be re-purposed into scarves — NO other clothing, please. A box for donations will be located in the foyer. Please help support this on going mission project.

everyone is encouraged to bring a sack lunch — or grab your lunch wherever and join together in fellowship hall following morning worship. The second service will begin at 1:30 pm upstairs in the sanctuary.

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP DECLINE

According to the 2011 Yearbook of American and Canadian Churches, most Christian denominations saw little growth in membership over the last year. Overall church membership saw a 1% decline in the last year with about 145 million people (out of the 345 million total population in the U.S. and Canada) declaring a church membership. The Southern Baptist Convention ranks second behind the Catholic Church in overall membership in the U.S. with 16.1 million declared Southern Baptists in the country. However, even the SBC saw a slight .42% drop in membership over he last year. (USA today)

Tithing Truth

Thought most profess to tithe the standard 10% of their income to their church, the actual average percentage of income given to churches over the last two years was only 2.43%. This number has declined over the last 40 years with the highest amount being only 3.11% in 1968. (Christianity Today)
